Project Description: This prestigious project involved the conversion and extensive refurbishment of the front block to The National Library of Wales (Grade II, listed building), forming new public areas comprising of a new Refectory, Introduction area, Interpretation area and Classroom facilities together with Restaurant with Disabled toilet facilities. Phase 2 involved the construction of an elliptical auditorium and exhibition centre, with link bridges to the original library. This provides accommodation over 4 floor levels of its 14m height to house the auditorium that will seat 100 people for lectures and film shows, the Sensitive Materials Display Area and the top floor of the drum houses a plant room. The drum itself is built of traditional concrete blockwork, with the external face in insulated stainless steel finished cladding system.
